The annual festival promoting the town of Monasterevin in Co. Kildare as the Venice of Ireland. Every July the small Kildare town of Monasterevin, famous for its bridges and waterways, holds a packed calender of workshops, concerts, arts, crafts and entertainment.
The 3rd Annual Monasterevin Venice of Ireland Festival takes place this week from 16th to 22nd July, with workshops events and entertainment for all. The official opening ceremony will take place at 3pm on Tuesday 17th July at the Drawbridge as part of the Irish Pony Club parade. Come out and cheer the riders on as the pass around the streets and help us cut the ribbon on this community festival.
All week there are lots of educational and fun workshops with cross generational appeal. Check out our programme of musical and arts events as well as our Family Fun Day on Saturday the 21st July with the Picnic in the Park and Street Re-enactment. Our big finale this year is a boutique concert on Sunday 22nd in Moore Abbey with singer-songwriter Luka Bloom. Here are a selection of images from today’s Kayak classes and despite the poor weather I don’t think the kids were bothered.
