For anyone who is not familiar with the Kildare Orchestra you should really check them out. We had them perform a recital as part of the town festival in the wonderful setting of St. Johns church.
First formed back in 1998,The Orchestra’s repertoire spans the great musical eras from the Baroque (Bach and Handel), the Classical (Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven) to the Romantics (Sibelius, Rachmaninov, Schumann, Bruch and Elgar). From symphonies and concertos, the Orchestra also performed highlights from Rossini, Verdi and Mascagni in addition to waltzes and polkas from Strauss and Lehar.
On the night we were treated to some present day music,in the form of movie themes by Morricone. I must say that classical music is not my thing but i actually enjoyed the performance and the acoustics in St. Johns is brilliant.
