I cant believe that its Wednesday again, the weeks just seem to be disappearing so fast these days. I guess that’s what happens as you get older. 🙂 Anyway, down to business. This week I picked an image from early 2012, it was taken on the stunning ruins in Old Killcullen, Co. Kildare. Old Killcullen dates back to the 5th century and sits on a quiet little hill near the town of Killcullen. Little much remains of the church except for some foundations and the Round Tower is only half its original size after been damaged during a battle between Crown forces and local rebels in 1798. There is a nice example of a High Cross as shown and the graveyard is still in use today.
Looking back, the colour shot was not that bad, although the composition was a bit off. At least I know that my eye has improved in the past two years. Very little was done to this image. After cropping to improve the composition I converted to B/W in CS6 and that’s pretty much it. These Re-works have been going well for the last while, but I have a problem. Each week I get to pick and image that I like, which makes it easy for me. So here is the challenge, I would really like you the viewer to pick an image from my archives to be Re-worked. That way you get to see an image of your choice and I can rise to the challenge and know that I am not picking easy options for this weekly post. So please feel free to comment or PM me, I would love to hear from you 🙂

Hey ed, thats an awesome place for shooting! i’d like a bit more detail on the walls in the b/w photo. Would love to see a startrail photo at that place! Cheers!

That would be cool, when I was there last the sky wasnt great and truth be known my skills were not up to much. Its in a rural area on a hill so there should be little or no light pollution. A star trail would be a good idea. Now all I need is a clear night 🙂

Do you have a link to the exact archive you are talking about? There are a lot of pics on your site and I don’t know which ones are the old ones.

Good Point Jeff, There is no actual archive of old shot on the website, as a rule here I would say if its not B/W then its old. Hope that helps?

Ok, I’ll take a look. Do you plan on making everything B&W, or does it depend on the photo?

At the moment Im hooked on mono, mainly because it suits the places I shoot. But no to answer your question, it will depend on the image 🙂

Here, I saw this on your Flickr page. If you Photoshop out anything that looks modern, add some grit and grunge, and convert to monochrome, this would look badass, like an old war photo.

I know what you mean about age and time…in parachuting it is called “ground rush” – early in the jump it seems like you will fall forever, but that last 500′ goes by in an instant 🙂

Hi Ed, a nice post again like always. But about your first line it’s not the age that makes you think that time is going fast. My son Jomar of eight years old is saying that already. Papa time is going fast i get up and before i know it i have to go to bed again. 🙂

You are right in that kids of that age amaze you every day with their remarks. But it is fun to hear them talking like that. 🙂
