This week I decided to do something different for the Monochrome challenge over on Leanne Cole’s Blog. Earlier this year my Camera Club ran a portrait workshop up at the Curragh Camp in Kildare. It was a good experience to try something different, as you can never stop learning in my opinion. Anyhow after the workshop we had the chance to work with some models over in the picturesque Japanese Gardens. I got to shoot with four different models that afternoon and Orla was one of them. I had not tried any of the shots in B/W to date so this is my first attempt. You can check out the original set, all in colour by clicking HERE.
Taken on my overworked Nikon D40 the shot was converted to Mono. I have been experimenting with a nice little plug-in for Photoshop lately, (Silver Efex Pro 2). Sometimes I have found photoshops B/W options a little lacking, so it was fun playing around with the new options & settings to achieve the right tones and look that I wanted. Once I got that right I added a slight vignette which I quite liked. So that’s it for this week, but if like me you want to see more shots from the Monochrome Madness Challenge then head over to Leanne Cole’s Blog later on today where you can check out the rest of the images sent in for this weeks Challenge.
