So with this being the last MMC before Christmas, the challenge for this week was to add a splash of colour. An easy task, you would think! So with the festive season in full swing,I had this great idea to go out and get some nice outdoor bokeh shots. Well this proved to be more difficult than I had thought. It was not for a lack of subject matter, but the image I had wanted to capture and was firmly planted in my mind just wasn’t translating in my camera. So by Sunday night, I was about to give up on this weeks challenge, when the kids came down the stairs, their little arms laiden with Christmas jumpers. And so the annual tradition of christmas jumper portraits continues.
This shot really stood out for me. Dylan our youngest is not one for staying still for long, and their was something in his facial expression that I find captivating. Its a rather simple image, nothing fancy, but for me at least, I love it. In keeping with the theme for this weeks MMC, I painted back in the colour of the lights on the tree, using a layer mask. I had tried painting back all the decorations on the tree, but it took away from the image in my mind, so I left it as is.
I’m really looking forward to seeing the rest of this week’s images for the Monochrome Madness Challenge, which will go live on Leanne Cole’s blog later today. Each week there is a vast collection of contributors from around the world with some fantastic Black and White Photography. I highly recommend that you head on over to where you can either contribute your own B&W images or view the images from this week’s challenge.
