Back in August, some might recall I mentioned that the nice folks in the Dublin Photography School were running a Photo-competition for this years charity calender in aid of Epilepsy Ireland. So with a vested interest in helping such a worthy cause, I set about choosing some images to enter. After narrowing a selection of shots down to 13, many of you went above and beyond helping me narrow these down to the final three. The competition itself each image was to represent one month of the year, with twelve images being picked for inclusion in the charity calender. I went into this without any expectation, and was quite suprised when I was informed that one of my images had been chosen for an Honorary Mention!
So last night was the official Launch party for the calender down in the DPS headquaters in the Carmelite Centre, Auginer Street. All I can say is WOW. The images on display were simply stunning, with the print, mount & framing done to perfection. The guys at DPS pullen out all the stops here, there was even cheese & wine for the taking. Unfortunatly the long drive back down to Monasterevin and the tablets im taking for a damn sinus infection prevented me from sampling these delights. There was a great turn out for the event and after the speaches from Sinead (DPS) and a representative from Epilepsy Ireland, Stewart Kenny from DPS whom is also a fellow WordPress blogger guided us throught the judging process and why the images were chosen. You can check out Stewarts blog HERE, its well worth checking out. And so theevening continued with the winning presentations and some great banter. A big thank you must go to all the staff from DPS whom made the event such a sucess.
As for the calender, which is the real purpose of this piece. All proceeds from the sale of the calendars will go to Epilepsy Ireland, the national charity supporting & representing people with epilepsy in Ireland. Calendars are only €10 (inc p&p) and would make an ideal Christmas present. Click here to get yours. Its for a great cause.
Congratulations on the Honorary Mention!
And for what its worth the picture will still be featured in an other calendar (my Advent Calendar). 🙂

Congratulations! Although to me, your images are worthy of winning! As my little girl Carys suffers from a type of epilepsy I just want to say thank you for supporting and promoting this worthy cause.

How could I not, my Wife also suffers from epilepsy so it was a no brainer. Hopefully the calender sells well and raises much needed funds 🙂

That’s great news, Ed, but a picture that outstanding really deserved a place on that calendar. I find it hard to believe that there were twelve better photographs.

Hey Eddie, This is way cool. When I was younger I suffered myself from Epilepsy. Today I free from it but still feel for those who walk with this disease. Glad to see you get a honorable mention.
