Apologies, but todays planned article has been postponed until tomorrow as I have some news, i would like to share. I finaly achieved one of my long term goals, well sort of! I got my self into a newspaper and its not the crime pages:-) Recently I was contacted by the Tallaght Community Council and asked to contribute an article I did some time ago on St. Colmcille’s Well, to a series of articles which they run in the local Newspaper. Well I’m originaly from Tallaght so I was delighted to be asked. Entitled “Love Tallaght Outdoors”. which is a series of articles published by the local paper The Echo, featuring various places of interest and peoples personal memories of these places and a brief history. Here’s hoping, that I might get to feature a few more. You can see the original blog post HERE if your interested along with more images, and links to other really interesting places from my hometown.
On a final note here is a clue and a small teaser as to tomorrows delayed post. In Kildare Town, Where lives the Sheela na gig?
Well done, Ed! That’s fantastic news and it’s always a thrill to see your name in print isn’t it.

It sort of looks like Roman design? A great story I can see why the newspaper wanted more. But about your other entries into the paper – crimes? 😈 ?

Fantastic Ed! At last you’re getting some of the recognition you deserve. It would be wonderful if it became a regular thing.

Lol! I’m watching with bated breath… Seriously, you deserve some recognition for what you do.

The fact that I can actually get out and do this is more than enough for me, anything else is just a bonus 🙂

That’s s perfect attitude to have. You do it cos you love it. And that’s why you deserve recognition for it. You’re preserving Irish history and mythology. For the nation. No one else is doing it.

Im not nessesarily the only one, look at you, you got way more mythology under your belt than I do. I always find it hard to tie the myths in with timeframes and historical references, something you do so elequently, but thank you 🙂

Why not set up a KickStarter account and let your fans help you out? Figure out the cost of self-publishing, add an extra few hundred dollars for “insurance” and put it out there in the “Internets.” You could at least get the ball rolling and if there is a lot of action, get the attention of a decent publishing house for this, or especially, the NEXT one! 🙂

Thanks Dan, Something to consider, although I should probably start working on a draft before I go looking for finance?Crowd funding seems to be a popular way of doing this lately 🙂

Well done Eddie!
It is quite a buzz when it happens. I was on TV at the start of the year, talking about this weight loss surgery of mine. To be honest, it was quite a pleasant day knowing that at least my first time on TV wasn’t a mugshot on Crimewatch…!

Nice, well done Ed. I think Tallaght needs its champions. It’s beautifully situated at the foot of the hills there but retains a bit of an image problem I think?

Thanks Roy, it sure does have its issues, but growing up hereas a kid, it was a great place. Shame how time can change things 🙂

Delighted at your success, Ed. Secretly, I would have been delighted to have a ‘bad boy’ (crime pages) as a follower.:) BTW, we refer to sheela-na-gigs as hoochie-mamas. Kerry x
