Its not very often that I get to post on a Sunday, so I took the opportunity to catch up on some random images from the family trip to Youghal in Cork earlier in the year. Whilst strolling around the town in between rain showers I spotted this little boat stuck on the beach. Well actually the tide was out, but the image stuck in my mind as an abandoned or marooned boat and so I took the shot to play with at a later stage. The skies were not great on the day, which was a shame, as a good sky can tend to make or break an image. So after playing around with different approaches, I went for an antique plate look which I quite like. It reminds me of the kind of photograph you might come across in an old photo album or book. Although it would probably benefit from a few cracks and tears around the edges to complete the authentic look.
Well thats it for todays random post, enjoy the rest of your weekend. Ill be putting the finishing touches to tomorrows post which I am really excited about. And dont forget submissions for the Spooktaculart 2015 can now be sent in, check out Spooktacular for full details. 🙂
Great effect, Ed. It really does look like a picture from a very old newspaper.

This worked so well, Ed, I would have been happy to believe that it was an old postcard you had found in a shop. Great stuff mate.
Best wishes, Pete.

Ah thanks Jean, family had a blast there, we stayed up in The hotel at redbarn? Looking forward to getting back down there next summer and exploring more😁

That would be the Quality Hotel, great to be near the beach with a family, especially if the weather is good. The town was hoping to extend the boardwalk from town up to the hotel but I’m not sure there’s enough funds for that yet. Maybe by next summer it’ll be done.

Wow that would be cool, we did walk down from the hotel as far as mobile home park but the kids started to get tired so we headed back. Despite the weather it was a fantastic place. If you were guaranteed the weather, you would never even consider going abroad on holidays. Ireland rocks 🙂

Thanks for the approval Dan, I will most certainly try my best. I like to use it on one of images, but am afraid that it might become tedious if used on a full batch of images. Really glad everyone liked it though 🙂

B&W can have that effect, and I guess thats why I shoot so much Black and White it has that old feel which I think really suits much of my subject matter. Delighted that you enjoyed the shot 🙂
