What a better way to kick off the new year than with one of my favorite local ruins, and the first Monochrome Madness Challenge of 2015. Grey Abbey, is one of Kildare Towns three abbeys. It took its name from the color of the habits worn by its monks, and dates back to around 1252AD. You can read more about its history HERE.
After visiting here last year, many of my shots of the Abbey, were edited with a somewhat artistic feel to them for some reason that I no longer remember. So this time I wanted to portray the Abbey in a more natural style and still show off the ruins features. Situated on a strip of land with an Aldi market on one side and the popular Kildare Village Outlet on the other side. exploring these ruins really is like stepping back in time.
I’m really looking forward to seeing the rest of this week’s images for the Monochrome Madness Challenge, which will go live on Leanne Cole’s blog later today. Each week there is a vast collection of contributors from around the world with some fantastic Black and White Photography. I highly recommend that you head on over to where you can either contribute your own B&W images or view the images from this week’s challenge.

Wow! Nice!

A classic Mooney B+W to kick off 2015 Up to the usual standard Ed, and I like the fact that some modern houses are visible, putting it into context.
Cheers, Pete.
