Its not often that I get a chance to post at the weekends, three kids can keep life quite hectic and with some recent drama on a personal level it gets even harder. But this weekend we have stayed up in Dublin to mind two of my nieces, so after a nice long walk to the shops all five kids are in an almost blissful state of calm watching the TV. so I have some spare time to catch up here.
Today’s image was taken on a recent nature walk around the hidden Priory gardens in Tallaght. Its just a simple religious statue set amongst the trees, but I have always found these statues to possess a certain ethereal quality. And given its peaceful surroundings which only added to the mood.
On a separate note, I got a reminder from WordPress this morning to congratulate me on the 4 year anniversary of my blog. Who would have guessed when I started, knowing little about blogging and photography, I would still be at it four years later? Certainly not me. So after four years and 502 posts, I have to admit, time has flown and it has been such an unbelievable journey so far. I’m nowhere near reaching my goals and am looking forward to seeing where the next four years will take me. My first post as luck would have it was actually a sculpture of the legendary hero Fionn McCumhaill which you can see HERE. Not my best work, but thankfully I have improved somewhat since then. Thank you to each and everyone of you that have helped, advised encouraged and supported me over the past four years. It has been a blast.
On a final note, there will be two Capturing History Challenges this week. Wednesday will see the 10th installment of the weekly Challenge. Followed on Saturday by a rather special, SPOOKTACULAR edition for Samhain/Halloween, with some really good entries in already it is looking to be a great collection so far. If you would like to join in in either or both challenges, its not to late. To find out more click on the link below, and get those imaged in to be included.
I love the lady of the forest. Congratulations on 4 years of blogging! I sent you something for the Capturing History challenge.

Just saw it Darlene. Thank you so much, I know this place well. We spent many a vacation in nearby Torrevieja. Sadly I was not a photographer back then and never got to shoot it. Great to see the old girl, looks wonderful 🙂

Well done on your four years, Ed. I am almost a year behind you, but still enjoying all of it very much.
Your articles have gone from strength to strength, educating us about Irish legends, Irish history, and showing us all the great old buildings and monuments too. The photos continue to delight, with their other-worldly feel that has become your personal trademark.
Keep going mate, you are getting it spot-on.
Best wishes from Norfolk. Pete.

Great image! I agree, the statues of Our Lady have a transcendent quality. If you alllow yourself to linger for just a few extra seconds, you can sense something beyond the material. I believe you sense this, Ed, with your ruins as well. Congratulations on your four years! That’s a true accomplishment. I really enjoy your blog!

But now I feel its time to up a gear or two and do some more stuff out of my comfort zone. Perhaps a bit more writting and maybe a book or two :-0
