Re-work Wednesday 23

I can’t believe that I am doing this little project for almost six months now. Time sure does fly, Last night I was just going through what images I have used so far, and it is turning into a nice little portfolio of shots.  This week I chose an image from the recent Brian Boru Millenium Festival. As you will know, Wildlife photography is not my forte, but the ‘Birds of Prey’, display was to good to pass over. Most medieval shows will have some sort of bird display as they were an important part of life in those times. I recall seeing some of these fascinating creatures in action, flying high above the field until they spot some lunch. Once their prey is spotted they dive at incredible speed, swooping down and grabbing their prey in their talons before soaring back into the sky. It is quite impressive to watch them t work.

 

As you can see, the original image was OK, with some DOF and the focus on the Falcon’s right eye. Despite the DOF, their was still alot of distraction in the image so I went with a portrait crop to focus solely on the Falcon. Then I converted to mono in CS6. I added some Gaussian blur on a layer to further remove distraction in the background. I then tried to add a white vignette, but did not like the result, so I went for the framing effect using the Elliptical Tool, with some further blur to blend the edges.Sol that’s it for this weeks Re-work, I hope you enjoyed it. As always any thoughts or comments you may have would be greatly appreciated.
