A Simple Portrait….. Monochrome Madness Challenge.

Barbara

The poor weather over the last few days left me with little chance to get out shooting, so this weeks image for the Monochrome Madness Challenge was taken on a recent workshop with my Camera Club, you can see some of the original shots HERE. I really wanted to try something a bit different this week, and what a better place to start than with a simple portrait shot. As most will know aside from shooting my kids and the odd event, my images rarely involve people. That said i think its good to try different things and experiment. This image was taken down at the stables in the National Stud & Japanese Gardens with one of our models for the day, Barbara, who despite the cold was so easy to work with

Taken on my overworked Nikon D40 the shot was cropped and converted to Mono, it was fun playing around with the settings to achieve the right tones and look that I wanted. Once I got that right I added a vignette which I quite like. So thats it for this week, but if like me you want to see more shots from the Monochrome Madness Challenge then head over to Leanne Cole’s Blog  later on today where you can check out the rest of the images sent in for this weeks Challenge.

    Very nice!!
As you may already know… portraits and people is what I do most… still life and objects are secondary.
As much as I love your images of castle ruins and the like… I’d say your portraiture is impressive!
