Re-work Wednesday 47

Orla web

With my archive of healthy ruins rapidly depleting for various reasons I decided to use an image from a portrait workshop I did with my Camera Club earlier in the year. Our shoot took place in the stunning Japanese Gardens and National Stud in Tully, Co. Kildare. Some of you might remember Orla as one of our four models on the day, (you can see some of the original shots & post by clicking HERE) or You can check out the entire set over on my Facebook Page or on Flickr. For this rework you will notice I converted to mono, but left just a tint of colour in the eyes. Using I tighter crop than the original shot, I finished of experimenting with various frames and borders. I liked the finished shot on my screen, but looking at it online, I;m not so sure about the border! What do you think?

For these and more of my images, why not visit my Website or join me on Facebook or Twitter.

Lovely shot. I would be inclined to lose the border I must admit – Orla is beautifully framed by the background and the border tends to detract from that.

  2. Nice rework – the border does not bother me – but I’m an old polaroid and medium format shooter, so it does not look out of place. I do like the hint of color in the eyes – nice touch. I actually prefer the B&W version of this shot.

  5. I agree with a couple of the other dissenters – on my screen the border is showing up as slightly creamy, which makes it look incongruous with the monochrome of the rest of the shot.

I would have gone for a black border, as some other folks have commented. Having said that, nice work. Whoever she is, she is very pretty

What a beautiful woman and a lovely capture of her. The others have commented about the border … and can’t offer much, except to say that the woman is primarily what I see and I looked at the border because of the discussion.
